Girasole - a photo from Italy to brighten your day...

Here's a quick photo of a lovely sunflower, shot last month in Italy, first thing in the morning. I'll post a few more photos from this trip to Le Marque region. But as it's raining down and spirits may be a little low in Liverpool right now - here we go!gira sole, photo of yellow sunflower in le marque italy

Was just riding back from a job down at One Park West, Liverpool - and came across a crowd of angry Libyans in the street chanting. I don't often have my professional camera gear with me whilst wandering through town, so thought it would silly not to stop and grab a couple of photos. The world has certainly gone wild. Post Egypt, the oppressed now have renewed hope. Having lived in Egypt running scuba diving boats - it was nice to see a protest with an international flavour in the streets of Liverpool. Further on the 'world gone wild' them - it's certainly been a tough week with the earthquake back home in New Zealand. It's heart-breaking, soul destroying and i'm no less stunned looking at photos coming out of New Zealand. This is one time it's pretty tough being so far away from home. My thoughts are with you all back home. 'Kia kaha', be strong and together, somehow, you'll get through it my Kiwi bro's and sisters.

Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily - some photos of the local fishermen etc...

photos of castellammare del golfo fishermen, sicily, scopello, wedding, photography

A couple of days before the Tonnara wedding we left Scopello and headed down bright and early to grab some photos in the nearby mafia-stronghold town of Castellammare del Golfo. The locals had told us earlier that the fishing boats came into the docks around 8am. We were expecting the hustle and bustle you might find from fishermen and locals coming together, haggling over prices for the day's catch. But it was a far more subdued affair... which was actually more Sicilian in retrospect. We weaved our way through the labyrinth of back streets down to the port and waited for the action to kick off. Once down at the port, all you had to do was turn around to see the most dramatic of landscapes, the town of Castellammare built on the side of a steep Sicilian mountain. Another big tick in the box of undiscovered non-touristic Sicilian hideaways!
Anyway - without further ado, here's a few snaps!
