Regeneration of South Manchester and an alternative view of the skyline...

Over the past few years I have worked with the South Manchester region of Wythenshawe - namely their Real Lives and Real Food campaign which has been a great success in the regeneration of such a wonderful area. Had a lovely day down there recently shooting mostly the parks and green areas of Wythenshawe. Climbing up onto the top of an apartment block gave me a nice unique view of the Manchester skyline. I often find it a bit difficult to get a "classic" skyline shot of Manchester as it pales in comparison to Liverpool - but I think this shot definitely does it justice and perhaps paints a different picture of the cold, grey industrial north that people perceive it to be...

The Iconic Liverpool Skyline - a panoramic photo on a lovely clear evening

Such a beautiful still evening in LIverpool town. The Liverpool skyline is ever changing and is always such an engaging subject to photograph. Was loving the interesting cloud cover and the chance to see stars over a big city is always a bonus!

The Liverpool Sky dances to the tune of Alan Turing in spectacular fashion last night... some photos from the waterfront

photo of the liverpool waterfront night time laser light display battle of the atlantic alan turing 2013 Last night the sky over the Liverpool city scape came alive with a spectacular laser light show as part of the Battle of the Atlantic 70 year celebrations. I was glad I stayed out a little big longer to capture the stunning laser light display that came alive as the sky over Liverpool City Centre darkened. The Morse Code laser light show was projected from the Royal Liver Building and was a tribute to Alan Turing who was instrumental in cracking the 'Enigma Code.' The Morse Code message is simply translated to "thank you"

The Auckland City Skyline - some photos from the other night...

When i'm not photographing portraits out here in New Zealand - i'm exploring the coastline, shooting sunrises with the Nikon D800. So far the camera has been performing flawlessly. The detail from the 36 megapixel sensor is quite incredible. I was interested to see how it would perform at night also with city lights and dark skies often pushing digital cameras to their limits. Once again it allowed me to capture detail I have never seen before. I don't think i've photographed any skylines of major cities round the world (yes you may argue that Auckland might not be the most major city) - where you can so clearly see the stars in the sky above.

The New Liverpool Skyline - a photo from a recent night time shoot.

Was recently commissioned to take a few photos in and around Liverpool. I made my way down to the Mersey one clear evening and grabbed a few shots. Conscious of the number of Liverpool Skyline shots i've both seen and taken since i've been living here, I zoomed in a little closer and tried to capture a different take on the skyline.
