Some photography for BBC Good Food Magazine - Van Zeller restaurant, Harrogate

First started working for the BBC family of food magazines about 7 years ago - and it's great to still be shooting for them all this time later! One of the best things is going to these up and coming restaurants across the north of England - is shooting them before they become famous! One such example is a recent shoot at Van Zeller in Harrogate. A fantastically beautiful Yorkshire town. Nestled in the cobbled backstreets is Van Zeller. A restaurant that is carving out it's own niche of delightfully fresh seasonal fayre. I also got to taste - so I can practice what I preach!
Here's some photos from the shoot:

These guys really know how to throw a party! It was all about the performance, the cocktails and the Punjabi food last night at the glamourous VIP launch of Eastzeast restaurant in Liverpool. I was there to grab a few photos for local PR firm Paver Smith who facilitated a fantastic opening night. There's plenty more photos to come - just have to jet off to Manchester for a quick job - then i'll be posting more this afternoon. Stay tuned!

Some photos from Liverpool Chamber of Commerce platform lunch at Panoramic Restaurant

Yesterday I found myself taking photos 34 floors up at the Panoramic restaurant Liverpool, for another successful Chamber of Commerce Platform Lunch. Not only is it a great chance to meet and network with other local businesses - but you also get to dine in the best restaurant in town, with the best views out over the whole city. There was a great turn out and some great networking to be had across a wide range of local business people attending. Here's a few photos from the event...

Emmet Scanlan aka "bad boy Brendan" from Hollyoaks - some photos for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

Emmet Scanlan, Irish actor from Hollyoaks and numerous other movies is giving up smoking as part of the lung cancer awareness month of November. I popped down to "Hollyoaks-ville" to grab some PR photos for Roy Castle. Emmet had was already into his first day of giving up... and actually seemed very pleasant considering! After 16 years of chain-smoking, and then going cold-turkey - we all wish you the very best mate!

It's all about the Turkeys! Some photos for Lunya restaurant Liverpool

The brief - head out to a farm and grab some photos of 100 turkeys grazing in a field. Yep, no worries!
These Turkeys are being hand reared at Thurstaston Farm exclusively for Lunya restaurant in the heart of Liverpool One. Owner and executive chef Peter Kinsella was giving me the low down on how important it is that these Turkeys are hung for 12 days and then slow cooked in their wood-burning brick oven for the ultimate, succulent bird! Might have to head along and give them a try myself!

Simon Rimmer from BBC Something for the Weekend - photos of his restaurant Greens in Manchester

Rolled over to Manchester to grab some photos for BBC Olive magazine. This time the brief was to try and catch the "busy TV celebrity chef" Simon Rimmer and his restaurant Greens in south Manchester. Great little restaurant with a fab team of chefs rustling up some great vegetarian nosh! Simon Rimmer was a really chilled likeable guy with no hint of the anticipated "i'm on TV so i'm too busy etc etc to talk etc etc." So had a good yarn, took a few photos and then got to eat the food afterwards. Sometimes I really do just love this job!

It's all about the networking...

Having photographed quite a few networking events recently - it's interesting to note their increasing popularity. There was a great turn out at the most recent "striding out" event at the Mandarin restaurant, Victoria street. Perhaps it was due to the quality of speakers present. The theme was "trends for 2009 and how these will affect young entrepreneurs. Speaking were Phil Blything, director of Glow New Media, Claire Walker, freelance sector development manager for Merseyside ACME, Richard Bamford, Executive Chairman of Enterprise Ventures and Councillor Warren Bradley, Leader of Liverpool City Council.A great night and some valuable insight was gained. Here's some shots from the night. Please click here striding out liverpool

Capital of Culture (and cuisine!)

If there's one place in Liverpool to get a bit of both - it's the Bluecoat. With the restaurant "Upstairs at the Bluecoat" re-opening this week - it's a great place to be! Here's a couple of shots of the interior. With the new look complimenting the old - I think it's working quite well. Working with Deana Clarke - we then set up the restaurant with some "guests" and attempted to make it look nice and busy! Can't wait to get back there and try some of the cuisine!
