So nice to be home!

Here's a few quick portraits of my nieces and nephews. Always love getting updated shots - and always so interesting to see how much their faces have changed.

I have lots of commissioned portrait shoots coming up in the next couple of weeks - I really hope the weather comes good!

Next blog post will be some portraits of older faces - so stay tuned!

Jenny Stewart new C.O.O. for Liverpool Chamber of Commerce - a Photo of one of my Photos...

So nice to see Jenny Stewart being rewarded for all her tireless work in the Liverpool business community over the years. I was delighted when asked to photograph her as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. Here's a quick Instagram photo from the cover of this month's Chamber Magazine.

Some Corporate Portraits for the Liverpool One Team...

A perfect winter's morning greeted us as we hit the Liverpool One outdoor shopping complex for some team portraits. The marketing team had a massive year last year with some fantastic events going on. From Gok Wan's Fashion Runway to X Factor stars Rebecca Ferguson and Marcus Collins live in concert - there was always something happening! We were lucky with some soft morning light. We hit a few locations to accentuate the diversity of Liverpool One. Although clean black and white studio portraits can be very effective - I also like getting out and about and utilising the environments in which people work. It gives a nice natural and more contextual feel to the photos. Donna, the Liverpool One Marketing Director - was about to be published in an article relating to the state of retail. We went to both Peter's Lane and Paradise Street to get some portraits that had the necessary retail "feel" to them.

The People of Mathew Street Festival 2011 - some photos of the festival goers...

At the end of the day - this is what it all comes down to... You. The people. This was my third year as the official photographer of the Mathew Street Festival. Each year I try to capture something a little bit different. This year I was given a nice open brief - a "freedom to roam" if you will. Previous years I have been given long lists of bands that need to be ticked off and i've found myself racing between stages and focusing mostly on the acts themselves. This year I had more of a chance to stop and look around me. The amount of people who make a big effort is astounding. People getting dressed up in all sorts of fancy garb - reminds me of the heady days of Big Day Out's in New Zealand. It was always a time to grab the face paint and don a whig! But Liverpudlians are unique in their own right. They're a special bunch, these Scousers - and this selection of photos goes out to you! the people of mathew street festival Liverpool 2011

Brabners Stuart Liverpool - some photos from a recent team shoot...

photos of brabners stuart solicitors liverpool

Brabners Stuart - corporate legal finance experts - are an integral part of Brabners Chaffe Street, based in Liverpool. The brief was to grab some corporate portraits "but not the usual bog-standard type." That's always a bit of a challenge as one person's perspective on creativity is always different to the next. So what I like to do is allow myself enough time to develop a bit of a rapport with the clients, rather than rushing in, saying "cheese", "thank you", then leaving. I also like to try and get away with not carrying too much extra lighting and equipment with me - as it often takes a lot more time to set-up than it does to grab the shots. People waiting around for anything tend to be unhappy people! So I was lucky enough to have available light from a large office window and a neutral coloured wall with which to shoot the black and white head shots. The team shots were set-up on a balcony (with rain pouring down) and the Liverpool Town Hall in the background. We waited for a break in the weather to bag the last couple of shots of them walking across the square effortlessly chatting away as only good lawyers could do! The black and whites and toned colour were all produced in Lightroom and tend to suit the moody feel of the day.

Photos from One Park West Show Apartments - a sneak preview.

Described as being the "jewel in the duke's crown" the final phase of Liverpool One is being implemented. These are the One Park West 17 storey apartments overlooking the Mersey River. I was there for the grand opening by the Duke of Westminster a few months back. Now the apartments are on the market and are being snapped up by savvy Liverpudlians and investors further afield. I was there on Thursday to take a few promotional shots for their new marketing collateral. So, hot off the press, here's a sneak preview inside... one, park, west, photography, liverpool, events, commercial, portrait, photos, photographer, chester, manchester, apartments, wirral, ant, clausen, photographer

Some photos from the recent Barclays branch opening - Hull.

One of the things i'm lovin about photography here in the North West is it's taking me to a few new places I might not otherwise see. Hull for example. Barclays have recently opened a new branch here, located centrally in the town square. Here's a few photos of the people that both make up the town and visited the new branch that day. I was working this job courtesy of Steve Stills photography who is based in London.barclays-14 [nggallery id=16]

Another great networking event with the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. Held at the cool Osqa restaurant bar on Roscoe Street - there was lunch laid on, a bit of speed-networking and presentations by local business people. Next event will be when the tennis comes to town.

A Photo from New Zealand...

Think i'm over the jet-lag now, so with a bit of luck the blog will start to roll again. Here's one of my favourite shots from my recent trip back home to New Zealand. Taken at sunrise on a beach north of where I grew up - I guess it's the subtle moody tones of the images I like. Last year I was chasing big dramatic landscapes. This year, so far, i'm enjoying more of a toned-down feel. mangawhai-1 To check out some more of my print images - please click here: ant clausen prints

HOT models night at Chaya...

ant_6143Hmmmmmmmm scorchin' even... let's not beat around the bush... The inaugural "red carpet" event took place on Thursday "slap bang" in the action district of Liverpool. Many pretty people adorned both the bar and the cat walk for an evening of 'decadence delirium' sure to please any self-respecting young, hip, wannabe "be-seen-type" individual. The best thing about it is there'll be an exclusive night on the last Thursday of every month... so everybody can grab a slice of the action. The lads behind the magic are a couple of NYC entrepreneurs here in liverpool looking to raise the bar in everything that is "late night - don't tell the mrs." Here's the shots from the night - click here: models night chaya Churrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a young star on the rise - Becci's Model Portfolio, Liverpool.

The Mystery Tipper Hits Liverpool

tipper-1Coming from a marketing background - I always appreciate a good campaign - and this one was a cracker! Red C Marketing from Manchester came up with the mystery tipper campaign to incentivise taxi drivers who wore their sticker on their cabs.

And today a lucky Liverpool cabbie's ship came in.

After the cheque was presented to a rather happy cab-driver, we drove round Liverpool landmarks to take a few photographs.

It's all about the networking...

Having photographed quite a few networking events recently - it's interesting to note their increasing popularity. There was a great turn out at the most recent "striding out" event at the Mandarin restaurant, Victoria street. Perhaps it was due to the quality of speakers present. The theme was "trends for 2009 and how these will affect young entrepreneurs. Speaking were Phil Blything, director of Glow New Media, Claire Walker, freelance sector development manager for Merseyside ACME, Richard Bamford, Executive Chairman of Enterprise Ventures and Councillor Warren Bradley, Leader of Liverpool City Council.A great night and some valuable insight was gained. Here's some shots from the night. Please click here striding out liverpool

Snow on the rooftops of Liverpool...

snow-1One of the bonuses of living in the top floor of an apartment is that you can look out the window and immediately see Liverpool from a fresh new angle... you can then poke your camera out the window and take a photograph! So when it was icy cold yesterday morning... that's what I did. It was amazing seeing Liverpool blanketed in a fresh coat of snow. I then rode my pushbike down to Sefton Park and grabbed a couple of quick shots. Will be uploading a few more photographs shortly. sefton-1
